Wildlife artist, Jocelyne Doll-Soulaine grew up with her family near a forest, and nature became her “first passion”.

Here, she could “satisfy her taste for nature and a fondness for observing and understanding animals.”

Jocelyne’s parents ran a large jewellery factory, and she trained in jewellery manufacturing and gemmology in Europe and North America prior to joining the family business.

She says, “I complemented my tuition at the Beaux-Arts in modelling and drawing, further enhancing my techniques in metalwork at an art foundry.” This evolved naturally to sculpture, which became her “second passion.”

Since then, she has been travelling the Old and the New World with her sketchbook and camera.

Trekking through forest, marshland, and the wide countryside, Jocelyne pays keen interest to any wild little fellow popping up, whether furry or feathered.

During her animal studies, she said, “I attempt to capture in my drawings the attitude, the expression and the spirit of the animal; always ambushing a moment of tenderness, beauty, amusement or humour.”

Today, she has established a studio and workshop in a small village in the South of France.

Here, inspired by the encounters of her trips, Jocelyne draws and recreates the wildlife scenery that she sees, combining bronze and minerals to delightful effect.
